Youth Orchestra Auditions
Thank you for your interest in the Lone Star Youth Orchestra (LSYO). Membership, by audition, in the Lone Star Youth Orchestra is open to middle school and high school string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players. All auditions are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Please begin by reading the audition requirements and steps below. Additional questions? Contact the LSYO Manager via phone at (972) 252-4800 or via e-mail at education@lascolinassymphony.org.
School Music Program Participation
LSYO is intended to support, not interfere with, local school music programs. Our goal is to provide students with additional opportunities for musical enhancement. Therefore, in order to be eligible for LSYO, students must participate in their school music program(s) [if such programs are offered].
If a student does not participate in an available school music program, then the only way that student may be admitted to LSYO is to obtain a formal letter from the school’s band or orchestra director stating that the school is aware of, and waives, such a requirement. This letter must be submitted to the LSYO Manager before the student shall be permitted to schedule an audition.
